Kohnstamm drove PR support for Honeywell’s home environment and commercial buildings divisions to launch of the first portable and wireless thermostat. The team spearheaded a successful product launch media tours, outreach to the construction industry and their HVAC contractors through a 60-city “World of Wireless” road tour of events. Its targeted media outreach generated more than 75 media placements and 37 million impressions.

The media tour included interviews with editors and writers ranging from Martha Stewart Living and Rachel Ray, to special editions publications such as Remodeling & Makeovers. Rachel Ray’s daytime talk show did a 10-minute feature segment, entitled “Thermostat Wars” with the help of an energy expert secured by Kohnstamm that provided a timely mainstream consumer boost that resonated with both builders and consumers.

Signature coverage in The Wall Street Journal and Consumer Reports caught the attention of senior leadership. Most importantly, sustainable messaging related to lowered energy costs through smart Honeywell technology penetrated all levels of the campaign.
